Radical Instrument

The Washington Post tells half the story, I think, here. There’s a comment in the WaPo story that says that the goal of partnership is to “build a better defense of Google’s networks.” But I’d guess there’s compelling self-interest for the government in learning about the exploited vulnerabilities themselves. In 2008, the San Francisco Chronicle pointed out a $2M+ deal between Google and the NSA for four search appliances and support, and called Google equipment “the backbone of Intellipedia,” a Wikipedia-like network for intelligence agencies.
