Does Italy’s Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi see a new-media threat to his old-media dominance? The Register reports that Berlusconi wants to use Italy’s upcoming presidency of the G8 to push for an accord to “regulate the Internet.”

Trade and transformation

Caught this sentence fragment on p 107 in December’s Atlantic –

“…which leads to the inescapable conclusion that trade has always led the foundation for the exchange of ideas and beliefs, indeed for most cultural transformations – nicely tempers our blather about the power of ideas and the individual.”

That’s one worth debating all night long.
